So Big Dawg Z (who hence forth will be refered to as ‘BIG CAT’) decided to take a web design class at school. COOL!

Last night he asked me to show him how to use (Adobe) Macromedia DreamWeaver so that he can be ahead of the class and get to working on his website :D

Talk about happy Mama!

I think he will be pretty happy with the class and all the help he can get at home. Once his site goes live I will post the link for all to see.

The Bad Boys Step up

This right here has renewed my faith in Kobe Bryant and Jermaine O’Neal (and a host of other NBA players as well):

Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Jermaine O’Neal and four other NBA players have promised to donate $1,000 for every point they score in a game later this week to help victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami.

Bob Sura of the Houston Rockets, Jalen Rose of the Toronto Raptors, and Pau Gasol and Mike Miller of the Memphis Grizzlies also are taking part in the $1,000-per-point donations, which will be made to UNICEF.

“I first talked about it with Jermaine and Tracy right before New Year’s. We talked about different ideas, and that’s how it started,” said agent Arn Tellem, who said he will match the highest donation made by any of the players.

Bryant, McGrady, Miller, Sura, Rose and Gasol will base the size of their donations on the number of points they score in Friday night’s games, while O’Neal will donate $1,000 for each point he scores Thursday night.

Tellem said the program, called “Shoot-a-Thon,” hopes to raise about $250,000.

Hmm, maybe they ain’t so damn bad after all…

Major Blast From The Past

Ξ August 23rd, 2004 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Warm Fuzzies |

Way back in 1997, a friend of mine from Boise sent this to me, the make sure I never forgot the things that life had taught me…I just found this buried in some files from my very old website and thought it was time to resurrect this.

Thank you still goes out to Jim, wherever you may be…

I’VE LEARNED that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them

I’VE LEARNED that no matter how much I care, some people just don’t care back

I’VE LEARNED that no matter how good a friend is, they’re going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that

I’VE LEARNED that just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want to doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have

I’VE LEARNED that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place

I’VE LEARNED that there are people who love you dearly, but just don’t know how to show it

I’VE LEARNED that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love

I’VE LEARNED that although the word “love” can have many different meanings, it loses value when overly used

I’VE LEARNED that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated

I’VE LEARNED that it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself

I’VE LEARNED that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn’t stop for your grief

I’VE LEARNED that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become

I’VE LEARNED that sometimes when my friends fight, I’m forced to choose sides even when I don’t want to

I’VE LEARNED that just because two people argue, it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. And just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t mean they do

I’VE LEARNED that sometimes you have to put the individual ahead of their actions

I’VE LEARNED that we don’t have to change friends if we understand that friends change

I’VE LEARNED that you shouldn’t be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever

I’VE LEARNED that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different

I’VE LEARNED that no matter the consequences, those who are honest with themselves get farther in life

I’VE LEARNED that no matter how many friends you have, if you are their pillar you will feel lonely and lost at the times you sometimes need them the most

I’VE LEARNED that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help

I’VE LEARNED that credentials on the wall DO NOT make you a decent human being

I’VE LEARNED that it’s hard to determine where to draw the line betweeen being nice and not hurting people’s feelings and standing up for what you believe

I’VE LEARNED that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it

I’VE LEARNED that sometimes when I’m angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.

I’VE LEARNED that money is a lousy way of keeping score

I’VE LEARNED that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time

I’VE LEARNED that either you control your attitude or it controls you

I’VE LEARNED that it’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts

I’VE LEARNED that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you had better know something

I’VE LEARNED that it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be

I’VE LEARNED that you can keep going long after you think you can’t

I’VE LEARNED that learning to forgive takes practice

I’VE LEARNED that writing, as well as talking, can ease emotional pains

And People Show Me Their Real Side…

Ξ December 14th, 2003 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Warm Fuzzies |

So I posted last about my friend Maria and the hard times here family has fallen on…well I tell you what the past week has restored my faith in humanity.

To date there has been over $800 sent to my Paypal account to give to Maria for food and whatever else they may need. A local car dealer is working on getting them a new car and I was able to get the kids winter coats.

If nothing else, we have made life a little easier for them and have taken a huge chunk of stress off of them.

I want to thank everyone who has played a part in helping these guys out!!!

Giving Thanks

Ξ November 27th, 2003 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Warm Fuzzies |

Today, on this day of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for so much:

  • The freedoms that this country affords me
  • The men and women of our military who are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice to protect my freedoms
  • My family which has supported me through a very rough year
  • My friends who stood by me and helped me stay sane
  • My kids who always know how to make me laugh
  • All my Jeepin’ buddies who kept me rolling
  • And most importantly I am thankful for God, who showed me that the path I was on was a dead end and then guiding me to the right one

I hope that each and everyone one of you enjoys your Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season and that you spend it surrounded by family and friends.

Peace!

A Little Something I Found

waterfall.jpg

I found this picture on my hard drive tonight, I took this in maybe 2000, possibly 2001 on a trail run up Geneva Basin. We never made it to the ghost town and old ski resort (where I learned to ski way back when) due to snow and I said I was going to try to get up there once the snow had melted.

Of course I forgot and have yet to go up to the ghost town…

But anyway, this is a pic of one of the 3 waterfalls we encountered that day running right down to the trail. I took this shot from the driver’s seat of my Jeep

Meet A New Friend

Ξ September 26th, 2003 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Warm Fuzzies |

Les’ post over at Stupid Evil Bastard reminded me of one of the many memories I have of living in Detroit: The Michigan Humane Society’s Meet Your Best Friend At The Zoo event.

If you’re looking for a new best friend - of the four-legged variety - look no further. The Michigan Humane Society is teaming up once again with the Detroit Zoo to present the 3rd annual fall “Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo” pet adoption event. You can “Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo” on Saturday and Sunday, September 27 and 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak.

No clue what the weather will be like in D-Town this weekend, but this is a great opportunity to check out the Zoo and help an animal in need of a loving family.
